The Decompression Sessions:
A Communal Wind Down

The Decompression Sessions began in June 2020 as a response to the racial unrest around the killing of George Floyd. We gathered to breathe, release stress and hold our emotions as a collective.

In the months since, we have gathered for this intimate, 30-minute check-in session on a regular basis, usually in the evenings, as a way to unwind from our daily stress.

Each session includes:

  • 10 minute group check-in

  • 10 minutes of journaling

  • 10 minutes of breathwork

  • Closing with an affirmation to affirm the experience

Studies have shown that regular breathwork can relieve anxiety and stress, and elevate mood. Journaling helping you recognize patterns of negative thoughts and behaviors, improve positive self-talk, and set positive goals for your wellness and mental health. Coupling breathwork + journaling together in a guided session gives all attendees the benefits of both.

In addition, The Self Care Suite also hosts Decompression Sessions for organizations and businesses looking to give employees and members time to focus on their wellness.
